How One AI Tool Gave Me Back 6 Weeks A Year

Let me start with this: I’m not an AI expert.

Like a lot of people, I’ve heard the buzz about how AI is going to revolutionize everything, replace jobs, and maybe even take over the world. I’m not in that camp—but I do believe AI can be a powerful tool when used thoughtfully.

Recently, we started dipping our toe into AI, and one tool in particular has had a huge impact on how I work: Read.AI.

As someone with a Kolbe A Index of 6-4-8-2, I’m high on Quick Start and low on Follow Through. That means I’m great at ideation and getting things going—but when it comes to documenting meetings or handling administrative follow-up… let’s just say it’s not my strong suit.

I’m in a lot of meetings each week. And while I always wanted to be present and engaged, it came at the cost of poor note-taking. My handwriting is barely legible, and typing up post-meeting notes became a dreaded chore. Because it was manual and tedious, it sometimes didn’t get done—or missed important details.

Enter Read.AI.

This AI meeting assistant does something I’ve never been able to do consistently:

  • Captures the entire conversation
  • Summarizes key takeaways
  • Highlights action steps
  • Produces transcripts that are actually searchable

It’s not just convenient—it’s transformed how we communicate internally. I save at least 30 minutes per meeting, which adds up to 5 hours per week. Over the course of a year (minus a couple weeks of vacation), that’s around 250 hours saved—the equivalent of 6+ weeks of time reclaimed from one simple AI tool.

That was our first step. Now, we’re exploring more complex ways AI can help with critical thinking tasks. It’s taken real investment up front, but it’s already cutting 75% of the hours needed per project. That’s not hypothetical—it’s happening.

Again, I’m not an AI expert. We’re just starting to explore this new frontier with curiosity and a willingness to test. But for business owners, adminstrators, managers, or anyone who spends hours in meetings each week, I highly encourage trying one tool that gives you back your time.

It won’t take over your job—but it might just become your favorite team member.
